Ever since high school, Sean has been struggling to find a job that becomes a career path. He’s worked many jobs and enjoyed some more than others, but he just doesn’t seem to have the confidence to break into today’s tough job market and get the jobs he’s dreamed of. “I know I’m a capable person,” he thinks, “but how do I get employers to see that in me?”

Job Preparation & Employability Training

First Step provides job preparation and employability training to help participants develop the marketable skills and personal characteristics required to excel in the workforce. Job readiness instruction consists of interactive workshops, individualized tutoring, and independent study. Participants will work with a veteran Human Resources Manager to write effective applications, resumes, and cover letters. They will also learn proper communication with prospective employers including phone etiquette and interview skills.

Financial Education

Participants in First Step’s life skills programs may also enroll in a financial education course designed to allow individuals to explore their options and transition to a more financially independent and stable life.
